James Scare!

Warning: kinda long but, I want to document what happened so here it goes.

As many of you probably heard, James was put in the hospital Friday. This is not something I would wish upon anyone. James had a fever on Monday and was having some wheeziness with his breathing. I just thought he was coming down with another cold. He usually has a hard time breathing when he catches colds. Anyhow, he was having the same symptoms all week. Finally on Thursday afternoon I was feeling a lot more worried. My mom happen to come visit and she advised me to get him into the Dr. I called right away and I couldn't get him in anywhere until the next morning (Friday). After having a week of sleepless nights both Brandon and I we were ready to find out what was wrong with our little James. Thank goodness my mom offered to take Dantzel for a sleep over. She was really excited. When we got to the Dr on Friday morning, we were there forever! The Dr was trying to figure out what was wrong and decided to give him 2 breathing treatments in a row. They didn't help at all so we had X-rays done. When the Dr looked at them she thought he had pneumonia with a bad viral infection. She then admitted him into the hospital right away because he was already in respiratory failure. SCARY!!! They were waiting for us at the hospital when we arrived. We already knew his room number and everything before we even left the Dr office. We got to drive him to the hospital, thank goodness. We were just trying to keep him awake. We were worried his was going to stop breathing on us. We made it to the hospital and they got him all hooked up on machines antibiotics and oxygen. Getting the IV in was one of the hardest things. They really couldn't find a vain. They finally got the IV started in his head the poor little guy. He was so good through it all. As many times as they poked him he would just look up at me and say "owe mommy". We didn't have to worry about him screaming or pulling away. My mom brought Dantzel to the hospital that night and that was one of the best things for little James. We had to take him into the hall to see her. With it being bad time of year for all sickness they advise to keep kids under 14 out of the pediatric unit. As you can see in the pictures I am a wreck. Yes, I am a baby and was crying. It is so scary to have your baby in the hospital. We didn't even know what he really had until we were about 3 hours from being discharged. CRAZY!
He now has been diagnosed with Asthma (which I already knew but, they wouldn't put him on anything because he is so little. Now we can get him on something because he has been hospitalized. So DUMB!!!) He was also positive with RSV. We will be staying away from everyone for a while.
We are home and still trying to get everything and everybody back to normal. Brandon and I are fighting a cold. I think from all the stress our immune systems are a little weak. No worries we are taking our vitamins! Dantzel has a little cough but I think she will get better soon too.
Thanks to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers. I know that it has helped with James fast recovery. We are very blessed to have family and friends who care so much about us.
Here are a few pictures from the whole Hospital experience. Thanks Mom for bringing your camera. These pictures were for Dantzel. We were taking pictures for Dantzel to see her brother. We were walking back and forth but, then I just asked if we could take him out to see his sister. That Nurse was very nice. I think we broke some rules while we were there. oops!

What a scary thing! We're so glad he's doing better and that he's home! Hearing about all of what you went through made us hug our own little ones a little more tightly.

I just heard on sunday about James. Im so sorry your family had to go through all of that. what a worry. And I agree, having a child in the hospital is awful. I cry almost everytime maclyn goes but after his surgery was the hardest, seeing them sad and hooked up to iv's and machines is heartbreaking. poor little james looks worn out in the pictures, and yes I can see your eyes are red and teary, so what your no baby your just like any other mother worried about her baby. plus your preggers and thats exuse enough :) glad to hear you are all home now and recovering. Maclyn has asthma too and it's very very scary, along with allergies and many other issues. so If you have questions on meds or anything ask, maybe I could help you. Let me know if you need anything.

How scary! I am so glad that he is ok. Sidnee had to go into the hospital for 2 days when she was a 1 1/2 for dehydration from the strep. It was the worst 2 days of my life. I cried every time she cried. He looks like he did pretty well though. Moms never do as good.

I am so sorry you've all had to go through this. That would be so hard! And what a champ! I can't believe they had to put the IV in his head. He is one sweet boy.

So sorry to hear about this! I completely understand what you are going through (and what you already went through). Last April, Braxton was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and was at Primary's for 5 days. He also was diagnosed with asthma. It was a terrifying experience! I hate feeling so helpless. We still do daily treatments, but it is so worth it. Glad to hear that you little man is doing well!
